Three Brothers

The Valley Trail is a long but relatively level hike through Yosemite’s valley floor. It traces the Merced River and offers endless sparkling views. I hiked it one recent fall day, that wonderful kind with warmth left over from summer, hints of coming winter, golden light, and dazzling color. This scene, with The Three Brothers looming behind a leafy screen, was only one of a shifting movie you see as you walk from shade to sun, back to shade, and into sun again.
