Old Bench at Baylands, Palo Alto
Watercolor, 10” x 14”, $350
There’s a large nature preserve of marshland on the edge of San Francisco Bay. It is full of little flows of brackish water that weave and wander among tussocks of grasses and low-growing water plants. Home to a large variety of bird populations, both stationary and migratory, you can see literally hundreds of species if you visit frequently throughout the year. This is a favorite plein air location for me. With frequent visits you quickly get a feel for the rhythm of marshland life, and that makes painting quite a magical experience.
