Deep Crevice

This is a just-after-sunrise plein air piece. When the sun is still low in the sky, the dark, dramatic shadows make clear and even a bit unnerving the thousand-foot deep cracks and crevices. You seldom see movement of the rock, other than an occasional small break-off of an unsteady bit, but you are aware at your very core of the vast forces that have shaped, and are still shaping, the Canyon over the eons.
